STORY TIME
⊱Setting
Our roleplay takes place in present day pacific northwest in a fictional town called Eriden and the fictional city of Atora. Eriden is a small town nestled at the base of the Cayset mountains. The mountains are vast and guard the way to the popular port city of Atora. Hundreds of years of merchants and travelers moving through the mountains have created a path, one that leads straight through Eriden, making the small town a resting spot for weary travelers. ⊱Present Day
Both Eriden and Atora are playable towns. Eriden is the smaller, more traditional town that is power-friendly while Atora is a bigger, port city with more humans.
Characters with powers have taken to calling themselves Seekers, after the founders of their village.
It has become popular for the younger generations to leave Eriden and their old ways and venture out to Atora. However, they usually find that the normal humans are not as understanding or friendly towards them.
Eriden has taken to hosting a summer festival where they try to gather more trade. It's much like a small circus where people pay to see strange things.
Saturnine is a present day roleplay, which means the year is 2017 and our characters have the same technology as we do now. The catch is that since Eriden is a smaller town and is located so close to the mountains, things like cell service don't work as well as they would in Atora. Eriden is also considered an older, more traditional town and it's safe to say that they are a bit slower in the technology department, though this is changing as more younger people with powers are moving in.
⊱Lore
500 years ago, the group of travelers that called themselves the Seekers, had found it. It was a sanctuary after traveling for months to find a place to settle. Cayset was the one to suggest going towards the mountains. He had heard travelers talk about the bountiful land on the other side. Fros wanted to keep to the forest that they were used to. Atora had heard rumors of water that stretched for miles. She told them it would be good for fish. Eriden wanted the best for her people. She had been chosen to lead the Seekers to find a better home and she was determined to do just that. The Seekers traveled over the mountains and found themselves in a lush forest. The group spent a few days in a small clearing there, deciding what their next move would be. The more they stayed there, the more apparent it became that this was their new home. There was a water source, enough natural food resources until they could plant crops and the mountains gave them shelter until they could build their own. It was perfect. However, not everyone thought it was the right place. Atora wanted to go further. She formed a a large group that agreed with her and they left towards the sea to settle.
Eriden, Cayset and Fros helped their people settle into their new home. More permanent houses began to go up and seeds were planted. It didn't take long for crops to grow. In fact, they noticed that they were growing a little TOO quickly. This only confined that it was the best place to settle.
Years went by and they built up their town. It was small, but they liked it that way. Travelers began to move through the mountains as word of Atora's settlement grew. It was even larger than the one in the forest. Merchants would stop for the night on the way to the sea. And soon, word spread of Eriden's town's crops too. They were slightly larger and tasted better.
But not everything was perfect. Ever since they settled in the forest, people had been getting sick and dying at a consistent rate. It took the elders awhile to figure out that the water was the one causing the sickness. When the people in town started to reproduce, they began to notice a difference in their children. Some children came out looking deformed in their eyes. Horns, wings, unnatural skin colors. These were disturbing in themselves, but some also began to develop supernatural powers.
As the years went on, the settlers of the town adapted to the water. What was once causing them sickness, was now granting them unusual powers and appearances. Travelers were weary about passing through and began to avoid the town. But some still came and stayed. The town agreed on naming their home after Eriden. Atora's settlement turned into a bustling city and was eventually named after her as well.
As the world began to advance in technology, Eriden began to put into place a better water system. Before, they had been discouraging travelers from drinking their water because people who were not adapted to it would get sick. Some did and farther down their line had children with gifts. The townspeople managed to pinpoint the source of the magic water to a spring in the mountains. Rumors began that there was a guardian that watched over the pool, guarding it from mortals. This guardian was rumored to be the original founder, Eriden.
